Amanda Koontz stands as a seasoned and accomplished figure in the world of water polo, seamlessly transitioning from an impressive playing career to a dedicated coaching role.
A product of Arlington High School, Amanda’s water polo journey began to flourish during her high school years. As a standout player, she achieved significant milestones, including being a member of the CIF champion team in 2002 and earning the distinction of co-team captain in 2003. Her individual prowess was recognized with a 3rd team All-CIF honor in 2003, further solidifying her impact on the sport during her high school tenure.
Taking her skills to the collegiate level, Amanda continued her water polo journey at the University of Redlands. Her time with the Redlands Bulldogs was marked by exceptional achievements, contributing to the team’s success as a member of the SCIAC champion team in 2005 and the DIII champion teams in 2004 and 2006. Amanda’s leadership qualities were evident as she assumed the role of co-team captain in 2007, guiding her team with dedication and skill.
Amanda Koontz’s influence extended beyond her team’s victories, leaving an indelible mark on the record books as a Career and Single Season top 10 record holder for ejections drawn. Her commitment to excellence both in the pool and as a leader on the team showcased her dedication to the sport.
Transitioning to coaching, Amanda has become an integral part of nurturing young talent. Currently serving as the 10U Coed Coach, she imparts her knowledge and passion for the game to the next generation of water polo enthusiasts. Her coaching experience includes significant stints with Foothill Club, where she coached 10U and 12U teams from 2009 to 2012, and Ramona High School Boys and Girls JV and Varsity teams from 2008 to 2012.
