Coach Alex La’s illustrious journey in water polo extends beyond the pool deck, encompassing remarkable achievements and contributions to the sport at various levels. Graduating from Mount Pleasant High School in San Jose, he forged his path as a standout player, earning All-League recognition throughout his high school years. His dedication to the sport propelled him to De Anza Junior College, where he not only garnered All-Conference Honors but also assumed the pivotal role of Team Captain.

Coach La’s influence reached the national stage when, in 2016, he served as the Scouting Coach for the USA Men’s National Team at the Rio Olympics. His keen understanding of the game and scouting acumen contributed to the team’s success on the international platform.

Continuing his commitment to water polo, Coach La has held key coaching roles, including the Head Coach for the Boys Coastal Zone Olympic Development Program in 2015-2016. His leadership and coaching abilities were instrumental in shaping the next generation of water polo talents.

In addition to his national and developmental coaching roles, Coach La has made significant contributions at the collegiate level. Currently serving as the Associate Head Coach for both the Pomona Pitzer Men’s and Women’s teams, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the student-athletes under his guidance.

Coach La’s impact extends to the local scene as well, as he joined Foothill Water Polo Club in 2006. Over the years, he has coached teams across various age groups, leaving an enduring legacy in the water polo community.

Off the pool deck, Coach La’s dedication to the sport is complemented by his academic achievements, holding a degree in Business Administration and a Masters in Business from the University of La Verne. His multifaceted contributions to water polo, from playing to coaching at the highest levels, showcase a passion for the sport that transcends boundaries. Coach Alex La stands as an influential figure, shaping the trajectory of water polo and inspiring athletes on their journeys.
