Foothill Coaches Among Elite as they Coach at NCAA Championships!

Three Foothill Coaches are spending the weekend in beautiful San Diego, but this is no vacation. After guiding Pomona-Pitzer Colleges to a SCIAC title, Division III Coach of the Year Alex Rodriguez, Kristin McKown, and Julia Fancher are now going against the best as they lead the Sagehens into the the NCAA Championship Tournament at San Diego State University! The Sagehens open play today with top-seeded Stanford. Good luck coaches and make us all proud!

Foothill’s 10 & Under Coed team made the trip down to Foothill HS to catch the USA Men’s National Team as they hosted Brazil yesterday. After enjoying the game, who did these kids convince to pose with them….none other than National Team Captain Tony Azevedo! Good luck in London, Tony!

Ambyr Stewart Selected Area Player of the Year!

Foothill’s own Ambyr Stewart continues to collect accolades, despite her high school playing career concluding two months ago. Following Bonita’s second CIF Finals appearance in consecutive years, Ambyr garnered the title of Most Valuable Player for Division 5. Now Stewart has been named the San Gabriel Valley Tribune Player of the Year, a nice accomplishment before she takes her show on the road to UC Irvine! Congratulations to Ambyr and her family! Matthew Maier Named FCWP Player of the Month!

Matt Maier plays for our 14 & Under Boys Red team. Through his leadership, the 14 Red’s are currently ranked 3rd in Cal Cup after a second place finish in March’s Turbo Orange County Cup. Matt has been the team’s top player on both offense and defense this year, demonstrating the commitment it takes to become one of the top team’s in Southern California. Earlier this year, Matt participated the Olympic Development Program, competing on the top team from our zone in the March Pacific Coast Regional Championships at the 8th Grade & Under level. His stellar play earned him one of 7 All-Region Awards given to the top athletes from the 12 teams in attendance, as well as an invitation to the 10th Grade & Under National Team Selection Camp where he hopes to earn a spot on the 15 & Under National Team that will travel to Serbia this summer. Congratulations Matt and keep up the hard work!

Chelsea Curran has been tabbed as the first Foothill Club Water Polo Coach of the Quarter!

The award is based on performance, accountability, athlete development, club commitment and forward thinking. Coaches that display traits that help advance the Foothill Club are eligible nominees. For those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to get to know Chelsea, she joined the Foothill Staff this year after a stellar career playing at Ayala High School and Cal State Northridge, and is currently making waves with the 14 & Under Boys Black team. Congratulations to Chelsea!
