Julia Fancher

Julia Fancher played Varsity water polo from 2001-2005 at Bonita High Schoolin La Vern. She was voted Miramonte League MVP three consecutive years and in 2005 Division III Player of the year. In 2004 she earned a spot on the US Water Polo Youth National Team.

Coach Fancher went on to be the starting two-meter defender all 4 years at Division 1 University of California Irvine’s Water Polo Team. She was team captain for 2 years and ranks 7th on UCI’s all-time scoring list. Coach Fancher was selected for the Big West All Tournament Team in 2009 when UCI won the Big West College Championships. She graduated in 2009 earning a degree in History with a minor in education.

After college, coach Fancher traveled to Melbourne, Australia to play professionally for the Victorian Tigers Water Polo Team for the 2010 national League season. From September 2010-May 2011, She was contracted to play for Iraklis in Thessaloniki, Greece where they medaled Bronze in the Greek league and played internationally in the LEN trophy.

As a coach, Julia worked as an assistant with the Bonita Boys’ and Girls’ programs from 2011-2012 where the boys won CIF and the girls were CIF finalists. She is currently working as an assistant coach for the Pomona Pitzer Womens Water Polo team and as the Head Coach for the ODP Coastal California zone 12th grade & under girls. Coach Fancher began coaching Foothill Club in 2006. She currently coaches the 18U Girls’ Red team.
