Foothill Players lead seeded teams into CIF Playoffs

November 7, 2011 FoothillWP

The CIF Water Polo playoffs start this week with two Foothill powered teams claiming seeded positions.

In Division 5, Bonita claimed the top seed heading into the playoffs and look to claim the schools sixth championship in boys water polo. The Bearcats open up on Wednesday against El Rancho/Pasadena wild card game winner.
In Division 3, Damien enters the playoffs as the second seed behind last year’s finals opponent, Laguna Beach. The Spartans first round game against the Tesoro/Costa Mesa wild card game winner hopes to start the run to an eventual rematch with the Breakers as Damien chases their second CIF Championship, the first being in 2002 when coach Grant Miller was named CIF MVP.
In an intriguing matchup, unseeded Claremont takes on 5th ranked Aliso Niguel on Wednesday. The Wolfpack has been playing well of late, enough so for OCVarsity’s Dan Albano to take notice and name the game the division’s best first round matchup.
