Coach Gonzalez joined Foothill Club Water Polo in 2014. Gonzalez played for Commerce Water Polo, Montebello High School, and for the Whittier College Poets.

His high school water polo achievements include: 2009 California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Division III Champion, 2009 CIF Southern Section Player of the Year, 2009 High School All American, 2008 CIF Southern Section Division III Champion, 2008 High School All American, 2007 CIF Southern Section Division III Finalist, 2007 High School All American, and 2006 CIF Southern Section Division III Champion.

Continuing play at Whittier College Gonzalez went on to achieve the following honors: 2013 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champion, 2011 NCAA Division III All American, 2011 Western Water Polo Association Honorable Mention, 2010 NCAA Division III All American, September 23, 2010 WWPA Player of the Week, 2010 WWPA Newcomer of the Year, 2010 SCIAC Newcomer of the Year, as well as 2010 Whittier College Freshman Athlete of the year.

While at Whittier College Gonzalez was a Major in History, and Minor in Sociology. In 2014 Gonzalez was the Assistant Water Polo Coach at Montebello High School.

When asked what are the most important skills for your players to develop? Gonzalez says: “Body positioning, ball, and passing fundamentals.”

When asked what are your coaching goals as Foothill Club Coach? Gonzalez says “My long term goal is for Foothill Water Polo to be regarded as not only a club team, but as an academy that aims to promote and maintain standards in USA Water Polo.”
