Alex Rodriguez is currently the assistant coach to our USA Men’s Senior National Team. He has also served as the head coach for our USA Men’s Youth Team the last three years. He also took a team to Istanbul for Youth World’s Championships in 2014 and won Gold at 2014 Youth UANA championships in Riverside, beating Brazil in the finals. He has also coached USA RED in the National League the last two years. His team has comprised of 18u athletes versus college and other athletes.

Alex is currently on sabbatical from Pomona College. He is the Head Coach of Pomona-Pitzer College Men’s and Women’s Water Polo. He has guided the Sagehen’s to 11 SCIAC Conference Championships (7 women and 4 men). His 1st SCIAC championship on the men’s side was Pomona-Pitzer Colleges 1st in 28 years. In his ten seasons coaching the women, his teams have played in the championship game 9 times out of 10. His program has produced 5 SCIAC Conference Players of the Year and over 50 All-Americans. He has been ACWPC Coach of the Year 5 times.

Coach Rodriguez is currently the Technical Director of Foothill Club. He started Foothill Club 11 years ago with John Ashby. In the 11 years, Foothill Club has grown into one of the biggest clubs in the country. They have won medals at 10u coed, 12,u boys, 14u boys, 16u boys and 12u girls. Foothill Club has produced over 50 college players and 10 college coaches.

Prior to his position with Pomona-Pitzer, he was at Pepperdine University, where he served as Assistant Coach for the Men’s Water Polo program since 2002. Rodriguez is a former All-American player at Pepperdine and was a member of the Waves’ National Championship team in 1997.

Coach Rodriguez was the Head Coach of the boy’s water polo team at Bonita High School in 2001, guiding his team to the CIF Southern Section Championship. He was named the CIF and Los Angeles Times’ Inland Valley Coach of the Year in 2001. For five years he served as the Bonita High School girl’s water polo Head Coach, where in 2003 he was named CIF and Daily Bulletin Coach of the Year. Coach Rodriguez earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History from Pepperdine University and is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Physical Education. He is married to his beautiful wife, Kristin Rodriguez and they have a son, Austin Rodriguez.
